Finally, I get to add to the blog! I've been wanting to all week, but I didn't have time to edit any of the pictures I wanted to include. Neither of us had been to the West Coast for an extended period of time (well I went when I was 8 with my family...so we hadn't gone in our adult life :) ), so we were headed west for two weeks to celebrate our first anniversary! We had a great time, but we did so many things I decided I would segment it out by city...and I was sure I would forget something important if I didn't do it this way.
We flew into San Diego and spent the first two days there. I personally loved San Diego! Ryan liked it too, but it was definitely my favorite California city. It was nice to have an additional three hours on our first (thank you time zones!), so we ventured out to explore the city. We landed on a cute Italian restaurant for lunch, then headed to explore via car. By the way, our rental car for most of the journey was a VW Jetta. Very nice. I was afraid we would get a less than desirable compact car, so we were really happy to have the Jetta for over 2,000 miles.
The first night we drove through Coronado, which had the world famous Hotel del Coronado, and explored through San Diego, including Balboa Park which was very cool. We crashed rather early because we were both still on Ohio time, which take a bit of getting used to...not quite sure I really did.

First full day in San Diego, we went to Mt. Soledad & La Jolla Beach in the morning, Point Loma & Cabrillo Monument in the afternoon, and back to La Jolla for the evening. Side note, La Jolla is prounounced "la hoya," not "la jolla" like I originally thought. Ryan and I had a few good laughs over this! Mt. Soledad was very cool to see because two of our closest friends were engaged there in 2008.

More San Diego pictures and stories to come. I'm too sleepy to do anymore. I'm normally asleep way before now!
